I’ve been coming to Renee for over 7 years now. Early when I started running, she helped me rehab an IT band issue, and more recently has helped me manage an achilles tendon issue. Truthfully, more often than not, I come to Renee to help me understand myself as an athlete and as a human. She’s a wellspring of knowledge, and constantly learning, but more importantly, one of the most deeply inspiring humans you could ask for in your corner. She routinely helps me reset my ‘why’, and, fills me with belief in myself. She’s a coaches coach, and easily one of my favorite people on the planet. — Sunny C. [Distal ITB pain + Insertional Achilles Tendinopathy]

On April 15, 2024, I ran the Boston Marathon in 4:08. It was an unseasonably hot day. And my time, as well as the time of the overwhelming majority of runners, was impacted. However, I finished. I finished pain-free. I ran 26.2 miles MORE than I could when I met Renee. She will remain humble and say that I did this. But I will say it for her. There is no way on hell that I would have been able to accomplish what I did if it wasn't for her help, her wisdom and her faith in me. I didn't want to let her down. She believed in me, and she helped me believe in myself. I wholeheartedly endorse Renee as the best running coach, physical therapist and believer in her clients. I owe so much of what I accomplished to her. — Brian F. (please see journey sharing for Brian’s inspiring full story) [Meniscus Root Repair]

I have been seeing Renee for injuries that have prevented me from running over the years. I trust in her knowledge. She truly wants her clients to get back to the sport they love and keeps up with the latest research to make sure she provides the best care and outcome for her clients. — Cathy B. [Renee] was a blessing in disguise. I am an avid runner and had some pretty serious injuries. She has helped me recover and get back to where I want to be. I’m thankful for her expertise and commitment to her patients. She has a knack for helping athletes and I’m so thankful I was able to have her by my side. — Natalie F.

Working with Renee was such a great experience. I met with Renee after a year of suffering two injuries from running and was so frustrated. Renee was so knowledgeable but also met me with such kindness and empathy which helped the process so much. All of her guided PT exercises I used each week to make me strong and get back to running. It has been a long process but she never lost faith in me and knew that healing would come. No one can ever determine a time frame but she stayed with me, encouraged me, talked me off many ledges, and gave me the courage to keep trying. The body stuff came and so did the mental, and Renee helped with both. I could not recommend her more highly! — MacKenzie A.

I have been to other physical therapists without much success, but Renee got me back to running pain-free in two sessions. She is wildly knowledgeable about bodies and triathlon sports and all of the complex systems that feed into sports performance (nutrition, sleep, hormones, etc). If you are lucky she also sometimes drops life wisdom that she somehow knows you need to hear. I love working with her and highly recommend her for running and in general! — Rachel R.

Renee Hodges is the most reliable, trustworthy, and knowledgeable healthcare professional I’ve ever worked with. Under Renee’s PT care and coaching throughout the years, I have successfully completed seven marathons, four of which were Boston Marathon Qualifiers (BQs). What differentiates Renee from all other professionals I have seen in the past is that she really takes the time to listen carefully to my issues and concerns, she asks great questions, and works with me on tackling the root cause, which most of the time is through simple strengthening. Her follow-up skills are also very impressive! — Cris C.

Working with Renee as a PT and coach was such a wonderful experience. She is the most intelligent and kind person. She helped to take me from post surgery recovery to running a marathon over the course of a year. She truly cares about her patients and clients. I highly recommend her to anyone in need of an amazing PT or running coach. — Stephanie E.

I have been a patient/client of Renee's over the course of many years and I am forever grateful for her always getting to the root cause of the issue and making me stronger because of it. She is one of the most knowledgeable, committed, and reliable providers I have ever seen and I trust her implicitly. She will do whatever it takes to help you heal. She not only treats the issues, she educates you so that you understand what is happening and what you can do in the future to minimize injury. She is compassionate, caring and understanding. She is concerned about you as a person and is always looking out for you and the best way to help you reach your goals. I have three boys and Renee has treated two of them, one of which was a college athlete for 6 years. They both consider her as a tremendous physcial therapist and look to her whenever they are injured or want to get stronger. She has worked with them through many challenges and the outcome has always been amazing. Simply stated, Renee is the absolute best and is the only physical therapist I look to refer! — Karen C.

Renee got me to my first Marathon starting line injury free. This was after three failed attempts on my own. Renee is the best and I have and will continue to recommend her to any runner who wants to avoid injury or recover from an injury. — Rob R.

I could not have completed Ironman AZ without Renee. I developed a knee issue about four months out from race day and was not willing to give up. Renee developed a treatment program of strength building and stretching that fixed the issue, improved my overall core strength and running form. Not only did my run improve but the core strength helped me on the swim and bike as well.

Renee’s training program is for those who seek long term health/ fitness improvements which will naturally lead to successful achievements in triathlon or any other endurance sports. [Kona Qualifying Athlete: see journey sharing for additional info] — Tosh U.

I have been working with Renee for several months now and am so thankful I had a few athletes refer her services to me. I came to her after trying to jump back into running after a long 15-20 year break and my poor body was a mess. The week I began training with her I lost my dad suddenly. So mentally I was struggling as well as physically coming into this. Renee has been a great advocate for overall health and wellness, caring for my body as a whole during those rough months. She has taught me so much about what has been missing in my routine and my strategy with plenty of evidence and data to back it up, which I love since I work in research. I have whined and questioned her, what feels like way too often, but I can feel/see results in my body, my recovery time and finally a race. I dropped 4 min per mile from training to race day and my recovery was incredibly smooth. Besides the education Renee provides, I have become so grateful for her continued patience, class and evidence-based progress. She's been a wonderful influence in my life and on my health.

I came in to get some pt help last year as I was preparing for my first 100k and was just thinking about how much it helped me stay healthy and strong as I trained more than i ever had and thought I’d just tell you thank you! It was a gift to be able to stretch myself in new ways and eventually complete my goal of running black canyon. Though the day brought some stomach issues I finished and my legs and body felt so strong through the end.  Your exercises were awesome and those “little things” made a big difference.
